County Board approval is required to enter into amend certain agreements at General Mitchell International Airport (GMIA).

BACKGROUND

On December 18, 2003 (File No. 03-618) the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors authorized Milwaukee County to enter into Airport Agreement No. CN-1425 with Royal Shine II for the lease of approximately 212 square feet of space in the concession area at GMIA for the operation of a shoeshine. On May 17, 2007 (File No. 07-208) the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors authorized Milwaukee County to amend Airport Agreement No. CN-1425 with Royal Shine II to add approximately 189 square feet of space on Concourse D to the agreement.

On November 4, 2010 (File No. 10-352) the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors authorized Milwaukee County to enter into a new agreement with USO of Wisconsin, Inc. for the lease of approximately 484 square feet of upper level Concourse space across from Gate D-30 to use for United States Armed Forces personnel while they are waiting for a flight out of GMIA. The USO anticipated that the 484 square feet would be sufficient for an initial facility, and would request to expand into the adjacent area in the future if additional space were needed and available. After consulting with an architect, the USO realized that it would be more costly to expand the space at a later date than it would be to include the entire space in the initial project. The USO is, therefore, now requested to increase the size of the upper level Concourse space across from Gate D-30 from 484 square feet to 734 square feet.
